Editorial Standards

Truckers make real decisions based on what we publish. These are the rules our content is held to — every guide, every tool, every article.

Primary sources only

Tax and compliance facts on this site trace to primary sources: the Internal Revenue Code, IRS forms, instructions, and publications (Form 2290, Form 8849, Publication 510), and FMCSA regulations (49 CFR). Where we summarize a rule, the official source governs — and we link to IRS.gov and FMCSA.gov so you can verify anything yourself.

Stable facts, clearly dated

We prefer evergreen, statutory facts — tax rate schedules, deadline rules, eligibility tests — over numbers that change yearly. Every blog article carries its publication date, and content reflects the rules as of that date. When rules change, we update or replace the affected pages.

No fabricated claims

We do not invent statistics, testimonials, reviews, or experiences. Where our pages show sample interface content or illustrative figures, they are labeled as such. Claims about Consulics itself — such as our status as an IRS-Authorized e-File Provider — describe verifiable facts.

Information, not advice

Everything published here is general information for motor carriers, not tax, legal, or financial advice. Unusual situations have special rules, and only a professional who knows your facts — or the IRS itself — can give you a definitive answer.

Tools you can audit

Our free calculators run entirely in your browser, collect nothing, and implement published IRS and FMCSA formulas (for example: HVUT = $100 at 55,000 lbs plus $22 per additional 1,000 lbs, capped at $550). Each tool page states the rule it implements so you can check our math.

Corrections

If you find an error anywhere on this site, email support@consulics.com. We review every report, correct verified errors promptly, and would rather fix a page than defend it.
