e-File Form 2290 NowFiling and paying are one job, not two
Most people searching for how to pay their 2290 are not really looking for a payment portal. They are looking to be finished. So the payment step lives inside the return: you enter your vehicles, see the tax, choose how the IRS should collect it, and transmit. The tax goes to the Treasury, your stamped Schedule 1 comes back on acceptance, and your truck stays registered.
Pay while you file
Choose your payment method inside the return. No second login, no separate trip to another site.
No fee on direct debit
Electronic Funds Withdrawal costs nothing extra. Only card payments carry a processor fee, and that fee is not ours.
Pick your withdrawal date
With direct debit you can set the date the IRS pulls the funds, any time up to your due date.
Schedule 1 in minutes
Your stamped Schedule 1 arrives on IRS acceptance. It does not wait for the payment to clear.
Free VIN corrections
A mistyped VIN never costs a second filing fee, before or after you have paid.
IRS Authorized
Consulics is an Authorized IRS e-file provider, so your return goes straight to the IRS rather than through a middleman.
How paying your 2290 works
Enter your trucks and see the tax
Add each VIN and weight category. The tax is calculated for you, prorated automatically if the truck went on the road after July.
Choose how the IRS collects it
Direct debit from your bank, EFTPS if you are already enrolled, an authorized card processor, or a check with the Form 2290-V voucher.
Transmit the return
Your return goes to the IRS through an Authorized e-file provider, with a check for the common errors that cause rejections before it leaves.
Download your stamped Schedule 1
Once the IRS accepts, the watermarked Schedule 1 is yours to download and hand to a DMV, an IRP office, or a lender.

The two amounts people mix up
The HVUT tax is paid to the IRS. It runs from 100 to 550 dollars per vehicle per year based on taxable gross weight, and it is prorated if the truck was first used after July. No provider can make this number smaller, because the IRS sets it.
The filing fee is paid to whoever transmits your return. It is the only part that varies between providers. See what filing costs with Consulics.
Paying your 2290, common questions
Can I file and pay my 2290 at the same time?
Yes, and it is the usual way. You choose your payment method while you file, and the return and the payment instruction go to the IRS together. Direct debit from your bank account is the only method that settles entirely inside the return, which is why most filers pick it when they want the whole thing done in one sitting.
Does the payment method change how fast I get my Schedule 1?
No. The stamped Schedule 1 is issued when the IRS accepts your return, and acceptance does not wait for the money to finish clearing. That is why you can e-file, mail a check with the 2290-V voucher, and still download your Schedule 1 within minutes of acceptance.
Who am I actually paying, Consulics or the IRS?
Both, and they are separate amounts. The Heavy Vehicle Use Tax goes to the IRS, part of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. It runs from 100 to 550 dollars per vehicle per year based on taxable gross weight, and every authorized provider charges you the same amount because the IRS sets it. The Consulics filing fee is separate and covers transmitting your return. We never collect your tax for you.
Can I use IRS Direct Pay for Form 2290?
No. Direct Pay is built for individual income tax and a handful of other forms, and it does not handle the heavy vehicle use excise tax. Filers who try it often end up with a payment sitting against the wrong tax type. Use direct debit inside your return, EFTPS, an authorized card processor, or a check with the Form 2290-V voucher instead.
What if I cannot pay the full tax right now?
File on time anyway. The penalty for failing to file is 4.5 percent of the tax per month, while the penalty for paying late is 0.5 percent per month, so filing always costs you less than waiting. Send what you can and contact the IRS about the balance.
