e-File Form 2290 NowYou can still pay by check or money order even when you e-file the return electronically. You e-file Form 2290 to get the stamped Schedule 1 quickly, then mail the payment separately with the Form 2290-V voucher.
Steps to pay by check or money order
- 1When filing, select check or money order as the payment method, and print the Form 2290-V payment voucher.
- 2Make the check or money order payable to the United States Treasury.
- 3Write your EIN, the tax period, and "Form 2290" on the payment.
- 4Mail the payment with the 2290-V voucher to the IRS address shown — do not staple them together, and do not mail cash.
Good to know
Because the return is e-filed, you usually get your stamped Schedule 1 without waiting for the mailed check to clear. Keep a copy of the check and voucher with your records as proof of payment.
