e-File Form 2290 NowYour stamped Schedule 1 is the document a state registration office actually inspects. Knowing what each part means helps you confirm it is valid before you rely on it.
What to look for
- The IRS e-file watermark and received date — this is what makes the copy a valid, stamped Schedule 1 rather than a draft.
- Your business name, address, and EIN — these must match your registration records.
- The list of Vehicle Identification Numbers reported, by category.
- The count of taxable vehicles and any suspended (Category W) vehicles.
Using it correctly
Check that the VIN on the Schedule 1 matches the truck you are registering — a mismatch is the most common reason a counter clerk turns you away. If a VIN is wrong, file a free VIN correction and use the corrected copy. Keep the stamped Schedule 1 for the entire tax period and beyond.
