Need your stamped Schedule 1 today? You can e-file Form 2290 with Consulics in minutes.
Start E-FilingYour stamped Schedule 1 is the proof that you paid the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax, and the DMV will not renew your plates without it. If you cannot find your copy, how you get another one depends on how you filed in the first place.
If you filed with Consulics
You do not need the IRS at all. Your accepted return stays in your Consulics account, so you can sign in and download the stamped Schedule 1 again any time, as many times as you need, at no cost. There is nothing to refile. This is the fastest path by far.
If you filed on paper, with another provider, or cannot access the file
When the copy is not available to you, the IRS can provide one because it keeps the accepted return on record. The quickest route is usually a phone call.
- 1Call the IRS Form 2290 help line at 866-699-4096 (International 859-669-5733). Ask them to send a copy of your stamped Schedule 1. The IRS will only discuss the account with the taxpayer or an authorized representative, so have your EIN and business details ready.
- 2Be ready to receive it by fax if you have one, which is the fastest way the IRS returns a stamped copy. A cover sheet listing your EIN and the VINs, signed by a company officer, helps them match your request.
- 3For an official copy of the full filed return, file Form 4506, Request for Copy of Tax Return. This returns an exact copy but carries a fee and can take weeks.
- 4For a free transcript that shows the data from the return rather than a stamped image, file Form 4506-T, Request for Transcript of Tax Return.
Plan ahead so it never happens again
Save your stamped Schedule 1 in more than one place the moment you receive it, and keep it with your other truck records. The IRS asks filers to keep Form 2290 records for at least three years. Filing electronically also means your provider keeps a copy you can pull on demand.
