What Is the IRP Average Per Vehicle Distance Chart?

The Average Per Vehicle Distance chart, often shortened to APVD, is how a jurisdiction calculates your IRP fees when your fleet has no travel history. Each IRP jurisdiction publishes its own chart showing the average distance vehicles based there travelled into every other member jurisdiction. It applies when a fleet is new, or when it accrued no actual distance during the distance reporting period. If your fleet accrued any actual distance at all, you must use the actual figures instead, and you cannot mix the two.

How Does California Handle IRP and IFTA?

California splits motor carrier credentials across two agencies. The California DMV runs IRP apportioned registration, and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration, CDTFA, runs fuel tax. California also offers three different fuel tax paths rather than one: IFTA, the Interstate User Diesel Fuel Tax for carriers whose interstate travel is limited to Mexico and California, and the California Fuel Trip Permit. Most California based commercial vehicles at 26,001 pounds or more need IRP registration or trip permits.

A USDOT number is an identifier, not authority. They are four separate obligations and none of them substitutes for another.

Georgia Trucking Portal: Login, EZ IRP & GTC Registration

The Georgia Trucking Portal is the Department of Revenue system for IRP registration, permits and CVIEW. New IRP accounts go through Georgia EZ IRP, and IFTA is handled separately on the Georgia Tax Center. Which one you use depends on weight and whether you leave the state: under 26,000 pounds and Georgia only means your county tag office instead.
